Various students from each edition take advantage of professional opportunities at companies or studios. Each one lives the European Design Labs experience differently and synthesizes it with their own personal focus.
Rafael Zaragozá (2009 Master of European Design Labs). He has his own studio, La Mamba, and collaborates with CDM Engineers. The most gratifying experience was being able to share a year with my classmates and understand how different we are when it comes time to face a problem. Working with people in different fields and cultures opens you to a more holistic dimension of design.
Claudia Caviezel (2009 Master of European Design Labs). Textile designer. Winner of the 2010 Federal Design Scholarship in Switzerland. The trips and workshops were the most productive part of the entire experience. The Master’s has opened my professional horizon to new disciplines and has prepared me to work autonomously after working for the same company for so many years.
Sonal Verma (2009 Master of European Design Labs). Fashion designer. She works as a freelance designer and artist. My ability to perceive creativity changed and I now have a better understanding of the interaction between different fields of design and their interdependence. I learned how to affect conceptual development, while at the same time the experience allowed me to increase my overall comprehension of design in leaps and bounds.
Davide Fichera (2007 Master of European Design Labs). Industrial designer. Created Fx2 studio and he works as a freelance. The main value of the Master’s is its real quality training in the job world, thanks to the professionals around you throughout the course who participate in the workshops and seminars. Now, while I’m working, I see a lot of what I learned in my day-to-day experiences, thanks to the combination of academic and professional components.
Ciszak Dalmas (2007 Master of European Design Labs). Industrial designers. The studio was created by Alberto Gobbino and Andrea Caruso in 2009 after finishing the Master’s. They work for various companies and collaborate with academic institutions. We greatly value the contact we had with professionals on the trips. We think it’s fundamental to share ideas that arise throughout the Master’s with professionals who know how the business side works, in order to get opinions not only regarding the project philosophy, but also its feasibility.
