Institutions and Companies
All the IED Madrid Masters involve collaborating with companies to develop real projects. Tecnoseñal/Renfe Cercanías is one of the collaborating brands.
The workshop held with Tecnoseñal and Renfe demonstrates the quality and viability of the IED Master Madrid projects in different industries. Students designed new pieces of urban furniture as a response to the appearance and proliferation of free newspapers in cities. This type of periodical is generally distributed in transportation centers, which don’t have ways to collect them once they’ve been thrown out, not inside the garbage bins.
In the spirit of the Master’s commitment to sustainability and improving the quality of life through product design, students designed display shelves made of a resistant material so that passersby could leave their newspapers, once they’ve finished reading them, for other people. These pieces, perfectly adapted to an environment of constant transit, were incorporated onto various platforms at the main stations in Madrid, where they successfully facilitated the reuse and recycling of paper, preventing the destruction of over 150 trees a day.
