You can now take part in the competition organised by the architecture and design magazine Dezeen, Jaime Hayon and the IED Madrid. Your design might earn you a place at a workshop held during the Master of European Design Labs ‘13.
The DI (design identity) competition offers you the chance to further develop your creativity. The aim is to re-examine you individual understanding of design, giving rise to new product proposals based on an innovative concept of identity.
WHAT
You can present a product design from its roots, in the context of an innovative view of identity, generating a new and comprehensive approach to aesthetics and functionality.
IDENTITY-ORIGIN. Being aware of our origins and our education is necessary to situate ourselves as people and as professionals. The cultural legacy and baggage derived from our place of origin, through the creation of a personal view of design, allows us to focus on this approach.
IDENTITY-ENVIRONMENT. Recognising the environment or “race” to which each designer belongs: designer-company, designer-artist, designer-communicator, etc. is a way of identifying oneself. These references have helped designers appreciate, recognise and select only the best elements that they have to offer, becoming increasingly demanding in terms of quality, which has proven to be a key decision.
IDENTITY-PERSPECTIVE. Expressing oneself through the creation of a project, from its development to its completion, is decisive in the process of allowing one’s own identity to become something tangible and provable: here I am and this is my piece; this represents me, this is what I want to do.
