EXPIRY – IN TRANSIT will be exhibited from December 11th to the 19th, 2009, at IED Master Madrid. The exhibit is a reflection of the experimental journey of 17 young designers, originating from 11 different countries, formed within the creative laboratory of Master of European Design Labs 2009.
The exhibited pieces are finished projects that offer solutions for innovation in design. They are presented in the form of objects, systems and concepts. The title EXPIRY – IN TRANSIT alludes to the vital experiences in the process that are interpreted in conceptual ideas, through which design and communications projects are created.

The exhibition is evidence of the multicultural and interdisciplinary reality of contemporary design developed in the EDL’09 experimentation group. The different pieces are the result of a year-long project journey in which they have visited design centers throughout Europe, always starting from a base in Madrid and taking part in exhibitions, fairs, museums, institutions, workshops, showrooms and professional studios.
The students’ presence in these major events assured them an important international network of professional and academic contacts.
Estambul, Milan, Basel, Frankfurt, Boisbuchet, London and Paris were the destinations where they measured the pulse of what is happening in European design in real time.
All of the projects have relyied on the collaboration of professionals and experts from diverse international fields, such as: Antoni Muntadas, Luca Missoni, Matali Crasset, Bernard Bréchet, Esa Vesmanen, Ciszak Dalmas, Ian Ferguson, Marloes Ten Bhömer, Jane Ni Dhulchaointgh, Hannes Koch, Andrés Madrigal and Kohei Nawa.
Similarly, the four Master’s editions have relied on the collaboration of companies and institutions, such as:
