The aim of the workshop was to design a collection of pieces made from some of the materials used by the Portuguese company (glass, ceramic and china), on the basis of their own interpretation of the company and its history.
This project also allowed students to visit the premises of Vista Alegre in Porto, where they had the chance to witness the artisan and industrial processes applied to glass, ceramic and china, carried out by professionals.
The Vista Alegre factory produces a wide range of porcelain pieces, boasting great aesthetic beauty and decorative richness. Although their production is carried out on an industrial level, many of the pieces are modelled and painted by hand. Next to the factory stands the Museum of Vista Alegre, a true historic documentation of the factory since it was founded in 1824.
