When we arrive at a new city, either because we are visiting it or moving there, it is hard to find the bar most suited to our taste. Paul Jones, a student of the Master of Strategic Design Labs 2014, aims to change this with his thesis project, which he has already launched in Madrid: GrogApp.
This app provides the user with a personalised list of geo-located offers of pars and nightlife events, as well as giving small bars and pubs a chance to reach a larger audience.
GrogApp will be launched during an exclusive event for IED Madrid students today, the 26th of November. Paul tells us more about his initiative in this interview:
Where did the GrogApp idea come from?
The idea came from some lessons I took during the Master of Strategic Design Labs. We had to delve into the problems faced by bars and how to resolve them. We began with the idea of creating a game, and from there the project gradually took shape.
How does the app work? Who is it aimed at?
When the app is created it will be a bit like the Groupon platform, but aimed at bars and pubs. GrogApp will allow them to display their offers and events, all of which will be geo-located. There will be special offers for university students at their schools’ cafeterias.
What will we be able to see during the event on the 26th?
During this evening event students at the IED Madrid will get to enjoy exclusive offers for them and their companions, in the event that their groups are not entirely made up of IED Madrid students, as it’s important to keep friends happy!
You have to register on our website, as the app is not ready yet.
If the event is successful, the venue would like to repeat it with a greater number of nights per week.
