The IED Madrid presents New Visions, New Leaders, the exhibition created during the last edition of the Masters of Design and Innovation, which can be visited from December 13-21, 2011 at the IED Master headquarters.
The final thesis represents a gold medal after an academic year structured by transversal academics, held in bilingual format, combining workshops, trips, seminars and Master’s classes. Students worked in an interdisciplinary environment and developed these excellent projects in the areas of product design, commercial communications and business strategies. For the first time this year, the conditions were ideal to activate this cycle with the simultaneous launch of three of the four Masters of Design and Innovation programs, comments Dario Assante, Director of the IED Master.
The Master of European Design Labs continues with the successful theme of the previous edition, “Identity.” Individual research, knowledge acquired and personal experiences, along with meetings with international designers, are the basis of this study methodology. Luis Úrculo and Paloma Uriel have tutored the young designers through brainstorming, reflection and synthesis for developing products that demonstrate creativity, innovation and design.
Since the beginning of the program, each student of the Master of Communication Design Labs has worked on an ambitious project to put into practice all the knowledge acquired throughout the year. Always under the attentive supervision and monitoring of specialized tutors (Nacho Rapallo, Quique Baeza and Jorge Martínez), the students carried out exhaustive research with the objective of developing and designing creative solutions for the communication of different brands.
The work of the Master of Strategic Design Labs, supervised by Miriam Lázaro, reflects the fusion between the concept of design and business management, always with an innovative vision. Based on this, the theses offer a vision of business or services in line with the current demand, where the role of the designer acquires greater importance and is integrated in the processes. The implementation of the creative thinking methodology has been assumed and applied directly through ad hoc seminars and indirectly through the resolution of cases and the very development of the thesis, confirms Riccardo Marzullo, Director of the IED Madrid.
The inauguration of the exhibition, on December 12th, features three major figures of strategy, design and communications: Jaime Hayon (Director of the Master of European Design Labs), Toni Segarra (Director of the Master of Communication Design Labs) and Carlos Barrabés (Director of the Master of Strategic Design Labs).
