Every year there are 3.9 billion tons of food in the world. One third of it (1.3 trillion) is in perfect conditions and ends up being disposed. Food waste has an impact on three pillars of sustainability; economic, environmental and social.
The issue is within the food chain: production, distribution and consumer homes. Single and bi-family homes are the most problematic part of the chain, since they cannot find better options to fulfil their nutritional needs, such as unreliable prices, fresh and homemade foods, and holding back from discarding the leftovers. As a result, these smaller families throw away twice the amount of food than larger families.
Joineat, is a solution created specifically to help this kind of consumer. It consists on a platform where they can buy meal packages for one or two people, delivered at home, prepared to be cooked or using just raw ingredients with a recipe, in a quantity chosen by the consumer and personalized by their taste and needs.
